How can EU policies strengthen the communication of Luxembourg companies on the international scene?
The EU's communication policy promotes transparency, accountability and media diversity. For Luxembourg companies and institutions that want to extend their communication beyond their national market and reach a wider audience, this policy can be a major asset. Transparency and accountability are EU requirements, which can help Luxembourg companies and institutions build trust with their customers and partners, and improve their reputation.Media diversity is essential for a democratic and open society, and the EU supports this diversity by promoting access to funding for small media, supporting training and putting in place measures to safeguard media independence. Luxembourg companies and institutions contribute to strengthening the quality of democracy in Luxembourg by supporting media diversity.
Freedom of the press should not be underestimated in the context of international communication. The EU encourages Member States to guarantee freedom of expression and to protect journalists from political pressure and intimidation. This policy has a considerable impact on the quality of information available to the public, as well as on the credibility and transparency of the European institutions and the companies operating in them. Luxembourg, ranked in the top 20 of the Reporters Without Borders World Press Freedom Index 2023, shares this fundamental value with the EU and places it at the heart of its culture. And as actors of the communication sector, it is our duty to defend and promote this freedom, which is a key element of any democratic society.
