Please meet Kai!

Kai Knudson, our Austrian American though Luxembourgish-at-heart intern at Apollo Strategists, surprised us with his quick wits and hands-on approach. We loved his humour and good company. So how did Kai live through his internship at Apollo, what did he like, what experience did he make? Please meet Kai.

Kai, could you please introduce yourself in a few words?

Hello, my name is Kai Knudson. I am a 20-year-old political science student from Luxembourg currently studying in Holland. I enjoy writing, competitive debating and am currently thinking about going to law school after I’ve completed my bachelor, due to potentially wanting to pursue a career in diplomacy. In my private time I enjoy playing rugby, spending time with my dog and reading.

What were your expectations when enrolling this internship, and what has your moving experience been?

My expectation for my time as an intern was that this would be an opportunity to 1) enter the Luxembourgish corporate world, networking and gaining know-how and 2) gain insight into a potential direction for my career. My experience has been positive throughout, as I’ve been given responsibilities, have been treated with patience and understanding by the whole team, and have enjoyed each task that has been given to me.

What was your dream job when you were a child?

My childhood dream job was to be the editor in chief of the American Vogue.

What passion drives you? What are your hobbies?

My driving passion is my desire to find fulfilment in my life, and I believe that a part of achieving this is applying yourself, and working. I find that coming home from a long day of work, and knowing that you’ve completed your tasks and achieved your daily goals is an incredibly satisfying and rewarding feeling, so I use this feeling as my motivation. My hobbies at the moment are yoga, due to rugby clubs being closed during the pandemic, playing guitar, making clothes, and teaching myself Dutch in order to acclimate to my new home.

Why do your friends visit you in Luxembourg?

I always tell my friends that Luxembourg’s greatest asset is its multi-culturalism. While small, Luxembourg is a meeting point for a broad range of cultures, languages, customs and ideas.

What’s your favorite place in Luxembourg?

My favourite place to visit in Luxembourg is a forest located outside of the city, where I like to go for walks with my dog, and which was the place that I attended the ‘Scouten’ when I was younger. It holds sentimental value.
