Woman on Board
Two elements for the success of companies’ boards are definitely diversity and the mix of skills. That is the message our CEO and founder, Pascale Kauffman, transmitted during the Paperjam + Delano Club’s 10x6 Women on Board, which took place last night at Athénée de Luxembourg.
Boards in small to medium enterprises, as well as in big corporations, tend to consist of lawyers, as well as finance experts. While those roles are essential, boards could highly benefit from opening up to other skills. Expanding the boards and welcoming other competences will automatically bring women in, as they tend to be less present in decision making positions in finance.IT experts… and communication experts, among others, could bring a fresh outlook to boards, which would be advantageous for companies, as diversity is synonym for stability and control of risks.
Communication is a skill that is becoming more and more in demand; it is necessary for the success of the company, both internally and externally. Broadening the spectrum of analysis, anticipating the impact of decisions and risks and ensuring that all stakeholders understand the organisations’ situation at any given time. These are the skills that communication specialists can bring to the board.
At Apollo, we believe creativity, curiosity, authenticity and a bright variety of expertise drive any endeavor to success, and the key to all of it is diversity.
